Just want to remind everyone to contact their representative and urge them to support House bill no. 391. We need to let them know how important this is to us and the future of our state.

This link lists all the reps.
http://house.louisiana.gov/H_Reps/H_Reps_ByName.aspx

You can view the bill at the following link.

If you wish to email them, the Louisiana Sportsmen’s Coalition has a sample letter at the following link:

I don’t like this part!!! I wanted to see them all gone!

Proposed law provides that no person may prohibit the public navigation of running waters which are navigable by a motorboat required to be registered or numbered pursuant to the laws of this state or the U.S., except where navigation has been prevented or impeded by an obstacle constructed by the landowner prior to March 2, 2018.

Good evening fellow fishermen.
I am a long time member of Louisiana Sportsmans coalition. First let me thank the admins for posting what is going on.
Second let me say how dire the situation is right now. As of 3 -1 2019 Bobs landing in Bayou black will be closed . Williams inc. has decided not to renew his lease and plans on gating everything but the ICW.  We have been fighting this battle since 2015 although the flood of 2016 derailed us a bit.
This year we are finally gaining some traction! HB-391 Is all we have at the moment so we are backing it to the hilt.
As of right now it looks like HB-391 will go before committee on March 27th . We need EVERYONE to show up at the capitol that day . Fill out a pro bill card and if you want to , speak on the matter. This is our shot at getting the public water , fish , crabs and shrimp back to the public. If this bill doesn't pass i am afraid that the spillway will be next on the landowners to gate list.
I will be at the Louisiana Sportsmans show tomorrow at the LaSC booth. Please stop by and say hi.  if you have any questions ,if we can't answer them we will get you an answer. If you want to stop by and talk fishing that's good too. Thank's for reading , Bob Lemings LaSC.

It’s truly sad how much is affected by this. Hopefully our politicians wake up and smell what’s really going on. Been watching it happen for over 20 years. It’s time for it to stop.

Had to work til 7pm today, so I won’t be able to make the show. I’m going to try my best to make the trip to Baton Rouge.

Funny that you posted that. I was in the middle of typing up a new post about the exact same thing. Got a little side tracked doing some things around the house.

As I sit here and do all of this, it brings back memories of the old days when I first started writing about this subject online. I would sit and get all worked up over it. Still boils my blood. Still hard to believe after all this time that it's actually finally getting some attention.

I even emailed WWL TV and thought I might be able to draw some attention to it..... NO luck. It seemed they were going to look into it but later decided to back out. Guess WWL had other interests. Funny that I came across the email just yesterday from when I contacted them. I have to include it here.

Of course I no longer do anything with the old site. Gave it up and moved everything over to segnette.com and here when I decided to do a fishing site.

Subject: access blocked to public waters

In recent years I have contacted Marrero Land and tried to contact others whom place gates across bayous around our area. I have wanted to ask them why they feel it is their right to do so. I have not been able to ever get a response from any of the companies who do it. I was wondering if one of you would be interested in doing a story on this matter. I could go into detail, but instead please visit my website Saveourswamp.com and you will be able to read about it and see photos of the actual gates.
I understand that they own the land on each side of the bayou but they cant own the water in the bayou.
