The following is a list of areas that offer shoreline fishing.

1. Bayou Segnette State Park – Westwego, La.

The park offers plenty of opportunity to fish from the shoreline. Whether it be in their picnic area or along Marcello Canal, you are sure to find a wide variety of fish.

2. Jean Lafitte NHP – Marrero, La.

In the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve you will find the Twin Canals. Here you are sure to find a variety of fish from Bass to bream to Sac-a-lait. I would advise you to bring bug repellent. The mosquitoes can be bad during the summer months.

3. Bonnabel Boat Launch – Metairie, La.

The Bonnable Boat Launch offers salt water fishing on the Southshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Here you can take your shot at White Trout, Speckle Trout and Red Fish.

4. West End Park – New Orleans, La.

West End is another spot that offers saltwater fishing on the Southshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Here you can take your shot at White Trout, Speckle Trout and Red Fish.

5. Harvey Locks – Harvey, La.

The Harvey Locks offers access to the Mississippi River. Here you can take your shot at that monster Cat Fish. People have on occasion also caught Striped Bass at this location.

6. Bonnet Carre Spillway – Norco, La.

The Bonnet Carre Spillway allows public access provided your activities do not interfere with the operation and maintenance of the project. Here you will find opportunities for fishing, crawfishing, hunting, camping and wildlife watching. Other activities include ATV and motorcycle riding areas, retriever dog field trials and model airplane flying competitions. The spillway contains two boat launching sites and a primitive campground provided by St. Charles Parish. A Park Ranger staff is on-site to provide visitor assistance.

7. New Orleans City Park – New Orleans, La.

The Park’s 11 miles of lagoons have provided decades of enjoyment to anglers young and old. Here you can find a wide variety of fish including but not limited to Bass, Catfish, Perch, Speckled Trout and Redfish.

These are just some of the areas south of Lake Pontchartrain. For a list of areas north of Lake Pontchartrain, check out this list.
