From Office of State Parks
Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser announced today that, effective 7:30 a.m. CST on Monday, Oct. 3, the Office of State Parks will begin taking reservations on the new cabins at Bayou Segnette State Park. Cabins will be available for overnight stays beginning Friday, Oct. 7. Reservations can be made online at www.ReserveLaStateParks.com, 7:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. CST daily, or by calling 877.226.7652, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST.
“I’m happy to see the cabins return to Bayou Segnette State Park after years of delay. I know visitors will be especially happy with the accommodations and look forward to hosting both Louisiana residents and out of state visitors at one of our state parks,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.
The 16 cabins replace the cabins originally built during the 1980s that were damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Reconstruction was delayed by a Corps of Engineers levee project and budget cuts. The cabins were designed by Architectural Studio out of Baton Rouge and built by Kevin J. Smith Construction out of Lacombe.
Each of the cabins offer overnight accommodations for up to eight people and will rent for $120/night from Oct. 1 through March 30 and $150/night on Fridays and Saturdays from April 1 through Sept. 30. The floating cabins, situated on the canal adjacent to Bayou Segnette, include two bedrooms, a full kitchen, living/dining area, and a screened-in porch overlooking the canal. Aluminum walkways surrounding each cabin provide opportunity for casual fishing, complete with an attached cleaning station.
Bayou Segnette State Park is located in Westwego on La. Hwy. 90, just 13 miles from downtown New Orleans. For more information regarding Louisiana State Parks, visit LaStateParks.com or follow Louisiana State Parks on Facebook and Twitter.
